Description

When we talk about design and the web, for some reason we don't believe we can have our beautiful cake and access it, too. Sometimes, the idea of accessibility can be like a bucket of water on a campfire — not the kind of sizzle you want for your website. To be fair, if you've ever had to retrofit a website for accessibility, you know it can be a painful process. And yet I tell you, there is hope!

Let's explore the human aspect of our work, and discover how to approach accessibility in a practical manner. Whether you're new to digital accessibility or you're maturing your digital accessibility practice, there are valuable takeaways. You will learn how to create accessible digital content, how to train your content creators, and how to get buy-in from stakeholders on the importance of ensuring your site is accessible. Still struggling as an army of one? Don't get lost in the weeds; learn where to focus your efforts to get the biggest return on your accessibility efforts — and then what to work on next. Let's change the assumption that accessibility is painful and, instead, demonstrate it's not only achievable, but gratifying and sustainable to boot.
