We're so excited to learn and share together! Here, you'll find everything that you need to know to get the most out of the HighEdWeb 2024 North Carolina Regional Conference.

Pre-conference social event: Monday, June 17

All are welcome to attend our pre-conference event at Namu to start building connections with fellow HighEd Web-ers. This casual event is from 5:30-7:30 p.m. and appetizers will be served. This event is optional and included with your registration.

Thanks to our premier - keynote sponsor Beacon for making this possible.

Arrival and parking

The conference will be held at the Kenan Center in the UNC Kenan-Flagler Business School

Getting here: construction

Please note that due to construction on campus, some roads are closed. Please familiarize yourself with the map outlining road closures and detours before you hit the road.

Parking

If you purchased a parking pass during registration, you can navigate to the Business School Parking Deck through the Skipper Bowles Parking Lot. Check in with the lot attendant at the entrance to the parking deck when you arrive.

After parking, take the stairs or elevator to the 6th floor and walk across the sky bridge. As you enter the main quad of the Business School campus, the Kenan Center is the building to the left.

If you did not purchase a daytime parking pass and need one, hourly parking is available in the Rams Head Parking Deck located at 330 Ridge Road, Chapel Hill, NC.

What to expect

Check-in

Registration opens at 7:45 a.m. in the Kenan Center Lobby. When you arrive, check in at the registration desk to grab your nametag. Coffee and light breakfast items will be available in the Kenan Lounge.

Sessions and keynote

The conference offers two tracks throughout the day. You're welcome to move between the rooms to attend sessions that most interest you.

Lunch is provided for all attendees. During that time, Keynote speaker Anne Hungate will discuss the Dimensions of Leadership, dissecting the changes in the digital workforce. You’ll leave feeling empowered to take the reins of your career and navigate your own leadership path.

Finally, we'll end the day together at 4:30 p.m. for closing remarks and prize giveaways.

Networking opportunities

HighEdWeb is all about building connections. Get to know fellow attendees and local higher education professionals by playing our attendee bingo throughout the conference. If you get bingo (vertical, horizontal or diagonal), you’ll be entered to win a prize!

At lunch, you’ll find table topics on some of the dining tables. From social media trends and email marketing to AI and GDPR, this is a great way to share a meal with folks who are facing similar challenges and opportunities. Looking to simply network? There are plenty of tables that are topic-free.

Sponsor exhibits

Please make sure to connect with our amazing sponsors in the Kenan Lounge. Without them, this event would not be possible. They support higher education and offer products and services to help advance your institution. They'd love to chat with you!

What to bring

You’ll have tons of takeaways and golden nuggets to bring back to campus, so you’ll want to bring whatever means works best for you to take notes. Power strips will be readily available to recharge your electronics when you need it. We also recommend bringing your own reusable water bottle to help us cut down on waste.

What to wear

Conference attire is business casual – with a strong emphasis on the “casual.” Jeans, tees, khakis and comfy kicks are common, too, both during the conference sessions and at evening events. Remember, session rooms can be chilly, so you may want to throw in a sweater for daytime wear.

WiFi access

UNC is an eduroam institution. If you’ve already connected to eduroam on your device, you should connect to WiFi automatically.

Otherwise, you can connect to the UNC-Guest network with no password required.

Private space

If you need a lactation room or other private space during the event, please let us know when you check in at the registration desk on Tuesday morning and directions to an appropriate room can be provided.

Photos

You’ll spot our photographer capturing the excitement and collaboration at the event. If you’d prefer not to be in photos that we may use on our website, social media, and other materials in the future, send us an email to let us know: hewebnc@highedweb.org.
