It's all about community

During the day, HighEdWeb Annual Conference attendees focus on working, learning and building digital futures. In the evening, we talk, laugh and build great HighEdWeb connections that last all year.

HighEdWeb Y'All
Tuesday, October 10

We’re doing something a special at #HEWeb23, y'all – and we hope you’ll take part.

This summer, we established the HighEdWeb Endowment Fund in Honor of Dr. Tonya Oaks Smith. Tonya passed away in April after a short battle with cancer but left a lasting legacy: she was a long-time HEWebber, past conference chair, former Board member, and a fierce mentor who believed deeply in our community and the emerging professionals it supports.

So, it feels right that the new fund in Tonya’s honor will provide financial support for web and digital professionals to attend the HighEdWeb Annual Conference each year. And what better way to celebrate Tonya and the ways she contributed to HighEdWeb than when we’re all “together” for the annual conference?

On Tuesday, October 10, we’re asking folks in Buffalo and online to consider purchasing and wearing the new “HighEdWeb Y’all” t-shirt, now available on our merch site. The shirt was created to celebrate our best memories of Tonya (whose roots were in Louisiana and for whom “Y’all” was a hallmark) and sale proceeds go directly to the endowment fund.

There are many cuts and colors, and the shirt is available until October. Order yours today to receive it in time to share in a sea of celebration and support in Tonya's memory.

Big Social Event

Tuesday, Oct. 10 from 7-10 p.m.

Hop on a shuttle from the Hyatt Regency to our Big Social Event at Buffalo Riverworks, the city’s premier waterfront entertainment destination. Enjoy panoramic views of the Buffalo River from the upper mezzanine’s large overlook deck, or mingle in the open indoor area overlooking the floors below with our own private bar and DJ. There will be plenty of room for drinks and dessert, plus pickleball and yard games like Jenga and Connect 4, so don’t miss this fun night getting social with HighEdWeb!
