Biography

Cherie van Putten, MEd in adult education, Penn State University, is an instructional designer for the Center for Learning and Teaching at Binghamton University. She facilitates workshops for faculty and serves as a resource for faculty who want to pursue online and hybrid courses. Her areas of interest include faculty development, creating learning communities, nontraditional learners, and distance education delivery. Van Putten has served as co-PI on both the SUNY Tools of Engagement Project (TOEP): On-Demand Discovery Learning Professional Development and Emerging Technologies for Lifelong Learning and Success (#EmTechMOOC; http://suny.edu/emtech). She is the recipient of two SUNY Faculty Advisory Council on Teaching and Technology (FACT2) Excellence in Instructional Support awards and two Open SUNY Effective Practice Awards.
