Adopting accessibility early into the design process is how the marketing team of Penn State Outreach and Online Education produces all print and digital designs. Gone are the days of post-production file remediation, now accessibility criteria are considered from the very beginning along with the business needs and design ideas. All design collaterals—brochures, infographics, newsletters, advertisements—are governed by inclusive and accessible design principles. Designers actively use built-in accessibility checks of software i.e., InDesign, illustrator, Photoshop, Adobe Acrobat or PowerPoints to make the design process accessible.
Join this presentation to learn how they integrated the accessibility best practices while retaining brand identity, visual appeal and compact file size to meet the needs of users with different abilities. The presentation will include challenges and outcomes of this process with a wide variety of before and after examples.
