Description

Are you a webmaster? content developer? technology coordinator? The rush to move instruction online in response to the COVID-19 pandemic; increasing numbers of civil rights complaints about inaccessible IT on postsecondary campuses; and greater awareness about the importance of diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) has created a sense of urgency with respect to the development of accessible and inclusive online learning offerings. Students impacted include some who have disabilities that impact their abilities to see, hear, move, learn, and engage. The content of this presentation provides a path forward in improving existing offerings and designing new ones that ensure that all students can benefit from online educational opportunities. Attendees will learn quick tips for getting started as well as specific roles webmasters, course designers, and other stakeholders can play in promoting accessible and inclusive design. Links to useful resources will also be provided.
