Emily Zimmermann

While a sophomore in high school, Emily Zimmerman suddenly lost her vision as a result of a traumatic brain injury (TBI). This forced her to have to change the way(s) she was familiar with, living in a sighted world, to having to learn to live life in total darkness; figuring out ways to navigate life in a new way.

While a first time experience teaching a blind student for many, many of her teachers adapted. She will talk about some of the ways to create a more inclusive learning experience. Emily will refer to some practices to implement in online lessons and ways to create a better learning environment for all.
