DESCRIPTION:Universities are often very siloed in their approach to softwar
e/product usage. Penn State is no different. With more than 50 individual
units at 20+ campus locations\, building a centralized system can be a cha
llenge. But we did just that with our digital signage.\n\nDigital signage
at Penn State used to be like the Wild West. Every unit set up their own s
ystem and did their own thing. Some units did it well\, others did what th
ey could. No one did it the same. In 2021 (yes\, during the 'COVID years')
we set out to centralize digital signage via an enterprise software licen
se and cloud-based application. We went from a very siloed approach with m
ultiple contracts on a decentralized network to a central system of more t
han 1\,000 displays at over 20 campus locations. In this talk\, I'll go ov
er the initial pain points that prompted the change\, the process we went
through\, the people involved\, pros/cons of our central system approach\,
the sense of community we created as a result of centralizing and lessons
we learned along the way.\n\nWhile this session focuses on how we did thi
s with digital signage\, the takeaways and information can be useful for a
 ny centralization effort.
