Karen Hackett

Karen is a Web Content Strategist at Penn State University Libraries. She is the first person to serve in this role. Since 2016, Karen has developed and executed a comprehensive content strategy that includes content maintenance workflows, and guidelines around usability, accessibility, content development, and content placement for the Libraries’ public website - never set it and forget it, but a constant labor of love!

She has over 20 years of IT and web communications experience, and has worked for both Penn State Information Technology and Penn State University Marketing. Karen has been involved with HighEdWeb since 2007, first discovering the Annual Conference as an attendee in 2005, and then joined the Annual Conference Program Committee in 2007. She has served as poster sessions chair and as a track co-chair, but switched gears this year to chair the 2021 Accessibility Summit.
